CSO To Organize ‘Vote Not Fight’ Campaign In Kwara State

The Vote Not Fight Campaign is an initiative by the 2baba Foundation in partnership with the USAID, National Democratic Institute and Face Initiative. The campaign that started in 2014 has supported two national elections, the 2015 and 2019 elections.

Ahead of the 2023 general elections the campaign aims to drastically reduce vote buying, electoral violence and improve youth turnout by educating citizens on the 2022 electoral act and the punishment for vote buying and selling which involves paying a fine of 500,000 naira and a minimum of two years imprisonment.

On Friday 4th November 2022, the vote not fight campaign volunteers training was held in Kwara state. The training was organized by the Brain Builders Youth Development Initiative in partnership with the 2baba foundation.

Tolulope Gbenro, the state coordinator for the project hosted the training with volunteer representatives from Kwara South, Central and North namely Balqeees Hamzat, Damilola Bamidele and Olayiwola Kerimat in attendance.

The training involved lectures around the elections and political processes in Nigeria, advocacy and the Vote Not Fight Campaign. The attendees spent time mapping out obstacles, targets and allies to aid with their work plan and guarantee the success of the campaign.

To achieve the above objectives The VNF project will focus Kwara State Obstacles such as political thugs, political parties, party representatives, Youth, Grassroots members, Students Union Government in University of Ilorin , Kwara State Polytechnic, Kwara State College of Education Ilorin, YUSJIB college of health, Kwara State University Malete IJMB and Motor parks.
