His Brief Background

Born in Ibadan to the royal family of late Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Yesufu Asanike.

Kolawole Asanike had his secondary school education at St. Louis Grammar School, Molete, and proceeded to Kaduna State Polytechnic, then Ahmadu Bello University, Kaduna where he was graduated as an Accountant.

He observes his mandatory NYSC service in the same Kaduna where he consequently started his professional career as an Accountant.

Two years after service years, and in a move to find a greener pasture, he travel out of the country, and to the United States of America, where he fully operated as an Accountant for years and for global companies and organizations.

His Working Experience

During his service year in Kaduna, he had start becoming an employer of labor through his farming operation and producing for the consumption of the general society.

Though he has been very fortunate in all ramifications, and he has not stop to thank God for that.

As an accountant, and at the same time farmer, after some years of full time work at different accounting and consulting firms, he has as well become a full independent consultant for companies in US, UK and others countries of the world.

His Political Journey

While narrating his political experience and how he was ignited to join the murky-water politics of Nigeria, considering his array of experiences and exposure in the US and other places. The senatorial hopeful does not hide the fact that, his political interest started and ignites by the outstanding leadership skills and modern governance techniques employed by Late Gov. Ajimobi during his first term administration, and throughout his eight years of governance.

Even though he has been a player and participant of the NADECO Movement during the struggle for the enthronement of democratic government in the country in the face of military head of state and governance.

He emphasized that, his exposure in US and other countries he was privileged to traveled to has pushed him to aim for the best for his state and owing to his political struggle and activism for years.

Why Now, And Not During Late Gov. Abiola Ajimobi Administration?

He revealed that; his job nature has a greater impact on such then. He was a full-time worker in the US as an Accountant, and he was to gather experiences before he can step into governance. And now that he has, and independently consulting for global companies and firms, he has the freedom to have his full-time participation in politics.

Explaining why he why stepped down his official full-time job and choose to be independent consultant is nothing other than his zeal to pave ways for his political participation and contributing to the development of his state.

Gov. Ajimobi was highly instrumental to his rekindled interest in politics of Oyo State, according to him. Especially with the best hands he chooses to work with in his government.

He expressed how he mobilized a greater support in all ramifications from US during the campaign and government of Late Gov. Abiola Ajimobi throughout.

His Relationship With Late Gov. Abiola Ajimobi

Aside the fact that he was a father to him, Asatola expressed that; he met Late. Gov. Ajimobi on many occasions during his government and they both discuss extensively on the state development.

According to him,”He offered me appointment but I declined the offer. As my intentions for the state is beyond me having appointment.”

Later at a program in US, Gov. Ajimobi saw me and appreciate my impact in my professional career. And how I have been helpful to Nigerians, Oyo state and Ibadan Indigenes over there.

“I have relationship with many people in Gov. Ajimobi government, and they are fantastic people.”

Now, Why Oyo South?

My intentions to run for political office were charged towards 2019, when he was encouraged to contest for governorship at that time by some high level powered stakeholders.”

Quoting him on what his response was “But I look at all odds available, I choose to calm my nerves to come out then. Even though I convince Ajimobi in all areas of tests that I am qualified for the seat. But I declined to and agreed to work for the best interest of the state.”

“I mostly feel uncomfortable seen how people are living with no direction and in a poverty ridden system. And to have a lasting effect or changes, there must be a full participation. And why I am coming out to contest in the area of lawmaking and make impact, and to contribute to the society meaningfully”

“Young people are bombarding embassies and Consular offices for visa applications, and their traveling out is not about anything other than their quest to look for job opportunities. But are they doing fair outside their own fatherland.”The answer would be No.

Kolawole Asanke believes that, there is need for wealth redistribution to pave way for development and responsibility.

Yes, Oyo south is a very good and cumbersome senatorial district but he, as he revealed, understand how the game will be and how he is going to play it diligently, and differently.

Politics is all about consultations and endorsement, and he has not relent in reaching out to consult and seek for support and endorsement from all strata of the Oyo South Senatorial District.

But with the incumbent Sen. Kola Balogun and other well known aspirants like former Finance Commissioner of Oyo State, Bimbo Adekanmbi, Dr. Olusola Eruobodo, Kolapo Kola-Daisi, Dr. Fola Akinosun and host of others, an interesting game is on.
