The South West Governors Forum led by Ondo State Governor Rotimi Akeredolu has unanimously rejected the 10,800 bag of rice sent to the region due to the poor status of the rice and which will be poisonous for human consumption.
The decision to return the rice back to the Federal Government was communicated to the President Muhammad Buhari through the Vice President Yemi Osinbajo. The Elite Time reported that, the decision to reject the rice was taken yesterday (Friday) during a virtual meeting held by the Nigerian Governors Forum presided over by the Chairman and Ekiti State Governor Dr. Kayode Fayemi with the Vice President,Prof Yemi Osinbajo.
It should be recall that, Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde raised the alarm on the poor condition and status of the rice sent by the Federal Government through the Nigeria Custom Service.
